I love Nagano, besides four national parks and lots of places to escape, it’s such a pretty town. Located just over an hour and a half away from Tokyo on Shinkansen, it’s compact and easy to get around. One of my favourite places there is of course Zenkōji which is one of the most important and popular temples in Japan. It was founded in the 7th century and stores the first Buddhist statue ever to be brought into Japan when Buddhism was first introduced in the 6th century. It’s a must-see place if you ever visit Nagano. Took this photograph last time I was there, as always there are a lot of visitors on the temple grounds.
