Kanazawa Station (Tsuzumimon Gate)

K

This is one of my favourite Japanese stations, it is located in Kanazawa, the capital of Ishikawa Prefecture in Japan.

After the train trip from Kyoto Station (another favourite train station), I arrived at this magnificent station, once I step outside I was greeted by the wooden Tsuzumimon Gate. This beautiful train station exit is modelled after traditional Japanese drums called tsuzumi. The gate’s unique style has become a contemporary symbol of Kanazawa.

The entrance gate is connected to a large, contemporary-style glass structure called the Motenashi Dome. Kanazawa Station is the city’s main gateway and rail station. The station underwent massive renovations in 2005 and is a critical transport and shopping hub. You will find around the station (as usual in Japan), many good hotels within a walking distance.
