Just finished reading it and I loved it but I love everything this author creates. What a twisted and talented mind. The sensory threshold is a concept often explored in the horror manga and anime of Junji Ito. In his works, the liminal zone is a space between the real world and the supernatural, a place where the rules of reality are suspended and anything can happen.
One of the most famous examples of the liminal zone in Ito’s work is in his manga series “Uzumaki,” (again a must-read) which tells the story of a town that is haunted by spirals. The liminal zone in this story is the town itself, which has become a place where the supernatural and the everyday coexist in a terrifying and confusing manner.
As the story progresses, the characters must navigate the dangers of the liminal zone in order to survive. They must confront their fears and confront the otherworldly forces that threaten to destroy them. In the end, only those who are able to overcome their fear and embrace the liminal zone will be able to escape its clutches and survive.
