I had this anime on my watchlist for a while and finally got around to watching the first 3 episodes today. Berserk: The Golden Age Arc – Memorial Edition is a TV cut of Studio 4°C’s Berserk: The Golden Age Arc films with new scenes included. It features intense action sequences and a story focusing on the dynamic between Guts, the gruff loner mercenary, and Griffith, the enigmatic mercenary leader. While the art style is a mix of 2D and 3D animation, it still captures a samurai film’s razor’s edge, life-or-death energy. Despite being a more faithful adaptation of the source manga than previous animated attempts, it is not incredibly captivating and is not the optimal way to experience Berserk. It is still worth checking out for franchise fans, but newcomers may be better off reading the manga. I will watch the rest of it. the animation is well done and love the colours in this anime.
