In February 2023, two of the brightest planets in the night sky, Jupiter and Venus, can be easily seen, even in places with bad light pollution. They appear closer together each evening and can be seen in the west after sundown.

With a good pair of binoculars or a small telescope, observers can also find two open star clusters, M41 and M47, with Sirius as the guidepost. Venus is a rocky planet that is the closest to us and has a scorching surface temperature, while Jupiter is a gas giant planet with clouds and storms and 92 known moons.
