Jupiter and Venus Tonight

J

On March 1 and 2, Jupiter and Venus will appear close together in the night sky, giving the illusion that they are about to collide.

This phenomenon is a result of perspective and the two planets are actually millions of miles apart. This event is visible to the naked eye and binoculars will allow people to see Jupiter’s moons.

A livestream of the conjunction is available from the Virtual Telescope Project.
