Fangoria Studios has announced that it is adapting the horror manga Bloodsucking Darkness by Junji Ito into a live-action feature film. The project is the first of three adaptations of Junji Ito’s Smashed: Junji Ito Story Collection manga, which was published in English in April 2019.
Jeff Howard, writer for The Haunting of Hill House, is set to executive produce the film and will serve as one of the writers. Junji Ito and other producers from Fangoria Studios and Amuse Group USA are also attached to the project. Junji Ito expressed excitement for the project and Jeff Howard noted his enthusiasm for being part of the adaptation.
Smashed: Junji Ito Story Collection follows a horror story involving secret nectar, earthbound people, and a haunted house.
