An Idea of Cyclist’s “Smart Glasses” for Safety

A

Researchers from the University of Glasgow have found that self-driving cars need to learn the language of cyclists in order to safely share the roads.

They studied the ways drivers and cyclists communicate with each other in real-world situations, and have suggested that self-driving cars display their intentions on their exteriors and that cyclists wear “smart glasses” to receive non-verbal messages from the cars.

The research aims to inform autonomous vehicle designers and to account for differences in drivers’ and cyclists’ interactions across the world.
